CMRL work delayed

Sources have said that the trial run of the Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) that was planned between Little Mount and the OTA (Officers Training Academy) will be delayed.
A new tourist travel card where a person can buy a card for Rs 100 (Rs 50 refundable) and takes as many rides in 24 hours as they wish has been introduced by Chennai Metro Rail.
During the first week of this month, four metro rails arrived in Chennai one after another. With the arrival of these formations, the metro rails have been increased by 29.
The skywalk opposite Ashok Nagar Metro Station has been opened to commuters from Thursday. The skywalk on the elevated stretch will connect people coming from Udayam theatre side with Ashok Nagar station.
There has been no progress seen with the Chennai Metro Rail as one of its major contractors has abandoned the project. However, works are now picking up gradually and a portion of tunneling work is now completed on the 3.3 km stretch running from Saidapet to AG-DMS.
Season tickets at discount rates have been introduced by Chennai Metro rail. In order to lure commuters who make point to point travel regularly, a 20% discount on the smart card has been offered.
