Second Phase of B.Ed Counseling to Begin on 14th Oct

Posted on: 07/Oct/2015 8:25:42 AM
The first phase of Counselling for filling 1777 vacant positions for B.Ed studies in Tamil Nadu began on 28th of last month and got over by end of the day on Monday. The last day of the first phase of counselling was held for history, geography, economics, etc.

At this juncture, the second phase of the counseling is set to take place between 14th and 16th of October. Secretary of the counseling said that the vacant positions that did not get filled in the first phase will be filled with students during this second phase of the counseling. He also added that the total number of students who attended the counseling this year is lesser than previous years.

Each and every year, there is a decrease in total number of attendees. Nearly 30 percent of the applicants do not attend the counseling, he adds.

There is a new rule imposed this year that candidates who have completed their B.E studies can apply for B.Ed from this year. Hence, 1113 engineering graduates had applied for B.Ed counseling this year. Out of this, just 37 of them had participated in the counseling and just one candidate has joined in a college.

We have decided to invite more number of students for the second phase of counseling. For example, if there are 800 vacant positions, invitations will be given to 400 candidates.

It is also said that the reduction in total number of candidates showing interest towards B.Ed counseling is due to the increase in course duration to 2 years. There will be severe competition during B.Ed counseling every year. However, this year, there is a chaos among the students. This has given rise to more number of vacant seats.
