6,136 People Continue to Stay at Flood Relief Camps

In the 41 flood relief camps present in Chennai, there are over 6,136 people staying in. 28 of these camps are set up at corporation-run schools and 13 of them are in marriage halls.
For distribution of medicines and conducting mobile health camps, the corporation workers are heading to Velachery using boats, said Miniser B Valarmathi, addressing a press conference held at Ripon Building on Wednesday. About 1,22,890 food packets were distributed to these people, said an official. Garbage of about 1,700 metric tonnes was collected on Tuesday. The reason for such a humongous quantity is opening of manholes for draining water from roads.
