Solar eclipse invisible to Chennaites due to clouds

Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre has mentioned that the first solar eclipse of the year will be visible in Chennai, Kanyakumari and Kolkata only partially.
The celestial event, which occurs every one or two years, was visible on the Chennai sky for a brief time between 6.15am and 6.30am today morning.
Since there were clouds people could not witness this eclipse even though special arrangements had been made by the Tamilnadu Science and Technology Centre.
