3G mobile data overtakes 2G across the country, says study

The MbiT Index study has shown that mobile data usage in the country has grown by 50 percentin 2015. Out of this, 3G usage has outpaced 2G usage in all circles for the first ever time. The MbiT Index is an annual report released by Nokia. It reports mobile broadband performance in the country. 

The study showed that social networking makes up 60 percent of data traffic. Subscribers look for multimedia services with video. 3G data grew by 85 percent, while 2G data usage went down by 12 percent.

The share of social networking was between 18 and 22 ppercent. 38 to 42 percent of mobile data traffic was accounted by video and audio files. Entertainment content accounted for 90 percent of the video traffic. Nokia feels that this shows a mature network, device and content ecosystem.
