Chief Minister inaugurates Chennai Metro City Police 2-wheeler/bicycle patrol duty

In a step to improve the patrolling activities of Chennai Metro City police, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister distributed 100 2-wheelers and 250 bicycles in the Chennai Secretariat and inaugurated the patrol.

A brief press report released by the Tamil Nadu state government mentions that the police department has been doing certain important services such as maintaining, peace, law & order, preventing  crimes, catching the culprits and punishing them.

Following the distribution of 4-wheelers and 2-wheelers fitted with GPS devices, telecom devices and other latest technical devices in order to improve the quality of patrolling activities ,especially, in crowded public places and narrow streets/lanes, the Chennai Metro City Police has been undertaking the patrolling activates with great enthusiasm.

In order to further improve the patrol capability and quality, the Chief Minister distributed an additional 100 2-wheelers and 250 bicycles at a cost of Rs. 1.12 Crores at the Chennai Secretariat and flagged off the patrolling.

The police staff allotted patrolling have been given specially designed jerseys and helmets. The 2-wheelers and bicycles meant for patrolling are fitted with horns and LED, and other devices. With this, the police can patrol the narrow streets and crowded public places.

In a measure to improve the technology of giving electronic receipts for the fines/penalties paid by the vehicle drivers who violate the traffic rules, 100 hi-tech electronic receipt dispensers at a cost of Rs. 1 Crore was distributed by the Chief Minister. As a token, the Chief Minister distributed 5 of the hi-tech devices to the police staff.
