Chennai Zonal Meteorological Center forecasts five days of rain, thunder, lightning, and strong winds in Tamil Nadu. Director P. Senthamarai Kannan states a downward circulation over the Kumari Sea will cause these conditions until the 19th. Today, light to moderate rain with thunder and winds (40 to 50 kmph) expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Heavy rain forecasted for Dindigul, Theni, Thenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, and Ramanathapuram districts. Maximum temperatures may drop to 35.6 - 37.4°C in interior districts by the 18th.
Chennai expects partly cloudy skies with light rain in some areas, temperatures ranging from 36.0°C to 37.0°C. In the last 24 hours, rain occurred in most Southeast regions, a few inner North Tamil Nadu districts, and some coastal areas. Puducherry saw light rain, while Karaikal remained dry. The highest rainfall, 8 cm, was recorded in Makkinampatti, Coimbatore district.
