The Director of the Tamil Nadu State Examination Board has ordered that mercy marks must be given to the questions which were wrongly asked in the Public Examination for the 10th Standard in English.

Here is the notification in this regard released by the Director of the State Examination Board:

"The Public Examinations for the 10th Standard had commenced in Tamil Nadu on the 6th of April and progressed. 976789 students had applied for writing the Public Examinations. Out of this, 922725 had applied from the State of Tamil Nadu and 15566 candidates had applied from Puducherry. Further, there were 37798 private candidates.

The Examination on the 10th of April was English. In this, questions 4, 5 &6 (carrying 1 mark each) and question #11 (carrying 2 marks) were asked wrongly.

As such, the Graduate Teachers` Association appealed that full marks must be given to all the students for these wrong questions. This appeal was taken by the Directorate of the Board of Examinations and it has ordered that full marks must be given for these wrong questions on a `mercy` basis to the students.

This news has come as a great relief for the students who wrote the 10th Standard Public Examinations."

It is worth noting that in a similar incident, the Mathematics question paper for the students of the 12TH Standard Public Examination question paper one question carrying 5 marks was wrong and as such, the directors had ordered 5 marks for the students.

The Directorate of the Department of Examinations has announced that the results of the 10th Standard Public Examinations will be released on the 17th of May.
