Kilambakkam bus terminus operating at international standards- Other important demands from the public now !!

The new bus terminus at Kilambakkam in south Chennai was inaugurated by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M.K. Stalin is well known. The new bus terminus has been constructed on land of 88.52 acres at a cost of Rs 393crores and 74lakhs. The main objective behind the construction of the new bus terminus was to reduce traffic congestion within Chennai city.
Highlights of the new bus terminus:
The façe of the bus terminus looks like an airport and it has got enough space to handle more than one lakh passengers a day. In the basement, a parking facility for 1000 cars and 2000 two wheelers etc are available. It is superb to note that a nursing room for mothers, separate toilets for transgenders and differently able persons have been set up here.
Within the bus terminus, there is an emergency centre with a 24 hour functioning ambulance and dispensary etc. There are also drinking water facilities for the passengers plus mobile phone charging facility, restaurant, tea shops etc. Escalator facilities plus lift facilities are also available here to help the passengers etc. The new bus terminus at Kilambakkam has also got lounges for the passengers, lounges for drivers and conductors and workshops etc. For the safety of the passengers, there are 150 CCTVs installed here.
The roads have been designed here in such a manner that buses from Chennai can arrive here and then can reach the NH via Urapakkam- Ayyanchery Koot Road.
It must be noted that there are only a few seats available here at the stop where buses go to southern paces in TN. In the area where city buses operate, there are no seats available. Therefore, more seats are needed now plus additional seating facility is needed now at the area where buses go to southern states.
Various demands of the public:
At present, there is no direct facility available to go to suburban bus stands and from there to the city bus stands. The public have been finding it difficult due to roundabout movement and they want facilities for the direct movement.
Secondly, the public are unhappy regarding the medical facilities here. it was mentioned that just doctors advice would be given for free and other things would be charged. The public wants the TN govt to help them for free medical facilities. The public now also demand a GH to be constructed here. The public also has demands of Amma canteen and library here at the bus terminus.
