47th Chennai Book Fair: Temporary Closure Today Due to Heavy Rains, Resumes Tomorrow

The 47th Chennai Book Fair, inaugurated at the Chennai Nandanam YMCA, has been declared a holiday today (January 8) due to heavy rains in Chennai and surrounding districts, causing difficulties in commuting. The President/Secretary of Babasi has announced that the book fair will resume normal operations tomorrow.
The holiday was prompted by a weather warning from the Meteorological Department, forecasting heavy rain in Chennai and Chengalpattu districts today. The 47th Chennai Book Fair, organized by Babasi, is taking place at the Nandanam YMCA ground. The South Indian Booksellers and Publishers Association (PABASI) host this annual event in Chennai. The current edition of the book fair commenced on January 3, featuring approximately 900 stalls. Thought-provoking lectures by scholars and writers are also scheduled in the Thought Hall every evening.
The book fair, running until January 21, welcomes visitors on holidays from 11 am to 8.30 pm and on weekdays from 2 pm to 8.30 pm, with a Rs. 10 entry fee. Additionally, a discount of up to 10 percent is available on all books.
