Roller coaster rides for the commuters due to worse road conditions in many localities in Chennai now after the floods!!

The quality of the roads has worsened after the recent floods in many parts belonging to Chennai. As a result, now the commuters are having a roller coaster ride in their vehicles. It is known that the ongoing phase 2 CMRL works has led to heavy traffic congestion in many places in the city.
Just before the monsoon, the contractors re-laid the roads in some parts of Chennai and there was some relief for the commuters for a short time. Then came cyclone Michaung and it led to severe floods in Chennai and damaged many roads once again.
The commuters were of the view that in important localities like Vadapalani, Virugambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Arcot Road, Perumbakkam,Sholinganallur etc, the condition of the roads that were re-laid or where patchwork was done were unsatisfactory.
The road from Virugambakkam to Vadapalani has been bumpy only and it was not proper. This was mentioned by Mr. S. Arumainathan president of Virugambakkam Resident Welfare Association. He added that though relaying of roads was done it was not professional. He threw light on how walking or travelling along the Kaliamman Koil Street was a nightmare. Both senior citizens as well as the school kids have been affected by this.
There are many damaged roads now along the OMR stretch in Chennai. Rods in places like Thoraipakkam, Perungudi and Kandanchavadi have been worst affected after the recent Michaung floods.
As per a resident here bad patches on many places on the roads have been causing traffic slowing down and congestion etc. Another resident spoke about how the stretch between Perumbakkam and Sholinganallur and stretch between Medavakkam and Kovilambakkam have become worse. Travelling through these stretches would be both physically as well as mentally difficult for the commuters. Truth is that the wear and tear of the vehicles travelling along these stretches would also be huge.
