Chennai Traffic Alert: Road Diversions for Arignar Anna Memorial Day Procession on February 3rd

The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory in view of a silent procession planned for Arignar Anna Memorial Day on February 3, 2025, at 08:00 AM. The event will be led by the Hon`ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, along with Ministers, MLAs, and DMK Party members. The procession will take place from Wallajah Road Anna Statue to Arignar Anna Memorial near Marina Beach.

Traffic Diversions (If Required):

  1. Vehicles from War Memorial towards Napier Bridge will be diverted via Flag Staff Road.

  2. Vehicles from Light House towards Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Gandhi Statue Junction towards R.K. Salai.

  3. Vehicles from Bells Road and T.H. Road towards Labour Statue will be diverted at Wallajah Road X Bells Road Junction and Wallajah Road X T.H. Road Junction towards Anna Statue.

  4. As the procession moves forward on Wallajah Salai, vehicles from Anna Salai will be diverted at Anna Statue towards Periyar Statue.

Traffic Congestion Expected:

Motorists are advised that there may be slow movement of traffic in the following areas:

  • Wallajah Road near Anna Statue on Anna Salai

  • Dams Road

  • Blackers Road

  • Kamarajar Salai near Labour Statue

Commuters are encouraged to plan alternate routes to avoid delays. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event.
