These foods are very important for us as they have beta- carotene in them

Found as red orange pigment in many fruits and vegetables, beta- carotene is very important for all human beings. It must be noted that ‘Beta’ is a Greek word and ‘Carota’ is Latin word.

This beta- carotene is a carotenoid which is one type of fat soluble carotenoid phytoutrient.

Beta-carotene plays huge role in us as it is a superb antioxidant. Cells in our body are protected from damage by the beta-carotene. Protection against the free radicals is got by consuming foods rich in beta-carotene. Plus consuming beta-carotene foods also lowers the risk of heart diseases and cancers in us.

By having beta-carotene it is possible to slow down our cognitive decline also. Hence it is important for us to take 15 to 180mg of beta-carotene in a day. Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A in us is known.

Sweet potatoes consumption - Sweet potato is a major food that has got rich beta-carotene content and they must be consumed by the human beings.

Micro greens intake - It is said that micro greens are good sources of beta-carotene and they must be consumed. They are young seedlings of vegetables and herbs. Various micro greens that are used regularly are cilantro, red cabbage, green basil etc.

Grape leaves consumption - Not many know the fact that grape leaves are very important source of beta-carotene. It is said that by consuming 100 gms of raw grape leaves our body gets 16.1 mg of beta-carotene.

Carrot consumption - By consuming carrots our body gets enough beta-carotene and that is very important reason why we must eat carrots.

Kale consumption -This is an orange plant pigment having huge beta-carotene content in it. It is important to note that 1 gm of kale has got 59 micrograms of beta-carotene in it. Apart from this kale also has got iron, protein plus folate, magnesium etc.

Spinash intake - This is also very important and spinash must be consumed by mincing or boiling it. Spinash could also be added to smoothies, salads etc. It is said that 100 g of raw spinash has got 5.6 mg of beta-carotene in it.

Consuming parsley - It is superb that one gm of this parsley has got 51 micrograms of beta-carotene in it and hence this parsley must be consumed by us. Parsley has also got iron, folate, vitamin A, vitamin, vitamin K in it.
