The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy, has released an order increasing the monthly salaries of the nurses under temporary appointments from Rs. 7700 to Rs. 14000.
Nurses are recruited on a temporary appointment basis in the government Primary Health Centres, government hospitals, and the government medical college hospitals. They get a monthly salary of Rs. 7700. As and when the vacancies arise in the posts of the permanent nurses, some of the temporary nurses are selected and recruited to be on a permanent employment basis. This is system is followed only in the state of Tamil Nadu.
When the term salaries are fixed for the nurses in the permanent cadre, a monthly salary of Rs. 36000 is given.
In this background, and considering the duties and the lifelines of the nurses under the temporary recruitment, the Tamil Nadu State health Minister Vijaya bhaskar had announced in the Legislative Assembly that an upward revision in this salary would be made. Accordingly, The Chief Minister has now ordered the revision of the monthly salary of the nurses in the temporary appointment cadre from Rs. 7700 to Rs. 14000.
This upward revision would be effective from 1st April. An annual monthly increament of Rs. 500 would also be given to this cadre. Further, the amounts for the Employee Provident Fund and the Employee Insurance Coverage will also be paid on a monthly basis.
12000 nurses will be benefited by this order. This information was released by the Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for Health, Vijaya bhaskar.
