Engineering Aspirants Face Uncertainty Over Delayed AICTE Academic Schedule!

Posted on: 27/Jun/2024 8:48:50 AM

Engineering aspirants in the State are facing uncertainty due to the delay by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in announcing the academic schedule. This delay has left the Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) struggling to schedule counselling dates.

The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA-2024) began on May 6, with around two lakh aspirants completing the enrolment formalities and receiving random numbers. Typically, the counselling dates are announced alongside the TNEA admission notification, based on the AICTE`s academic schedule.

However, there has been no information from the AICTE regarding the academic schedule, causing concern among DOTE officials. Students and parents have been inundating the authorities with calls, anxious to know the counselling dates. Although the AICTE has issued a provisional academic schedule, it is insufficient for finalizing the counselling dates.

The ongoing process of verifying certificates, both online and in person, will continue until June 30. The merit list is scheduled for release on July 10, providing some leeway for DOTE. Officials hope the AICTE will announce the academic schedule before the release of the rank list to ensure counselling dates can be set.

A delay in the counselling process could lead to subsequent delays in seat allocation and the commencement of classes for first-year students, exacerbating the situation further.
