IIT Madras’ Experiential Technology Innovation Centre (XTIC) is set to host a two-day summit on extended reality (XR) starting November 17, aiming to accelerate research and foster start-up growth in the field. The event will launch an academic partnership program, intended to build a strong foundation of XR developers and designers for both national and global markets.
The summit will include agreements with academic institutions to bridge the gap between applied and core research in XR, with the goal of establishing an XR corridor in India by 2047. Highlights include XR technology showcases, a ‘game jam’ on XR readiness, and sessions on innovations in XR hardware, software, and immersive design.
American computer scientist Steve LaValle, known for co-inventing the Oculus VR headset, will present awards to XR start-ups for groundbreaking achievements in the field.
