The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) is set to complete the modernization of six bus termini in the city by March next year. The selected termini - Tondiarpet, Kaviarasu Kannadasan Nagar, Mullai Nagar, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Periyar Nagar, and Ambattur - were prioritized due to their poor condition and lack of amenities.
With an allocation of ₹80 crore, the project aims to improve infrastructure, especially in North Chennai areas catering to underserved communities. Work is progressing rapidly after finalizing contractors.
Additionally, CMDA plans to modernize six more termini next year, including those in T. Nagar, Avadi, Vallalar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Padiyanallur, and Iyyappanthangal.
