In a bid to streamline vehicular movement on the Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road (200 Feet Road), Tambaram City Police have implemented significant traffic modifications near the Kamakshi Memorial Hospital junction. Two new U-turns have been introduced to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and reduce congestion at signals.
Key Changes in Traffic Movement:
For Vehicles from Velachery Towards the Airport:
- A mandatory left turn at Kamakshi Hospital Junction.
- Travel 200 meters before taking the newly created U-turn on Radial Road.
- Continue straight towards the airport without stopping at a signal.
For Vehicles from the Airport Towards Pallikaranai:
- No more direct right turns at Kamakshi Signal.
- Take a left, proceed to Mylai Balaji Junction, and make a U-turn.
- Use the flyover to merge onto Velachery-Tambaram Road near Balaji Dental College.
Infrastructure Improvements:
To accommodate these changes, Tambaram Police have widened the stretch on Radial Road by clearing grass patches and ensuring a sufficient turning radius, even for heavy vehicles.
Pedestrian Safety Measures:
- The Kamakshi Hospital signal will now feature dedicated pedestrian crossing intervals of 30-40 seconds every four to five minutes.
These modifications aim to enhance road safety and reduce travel time for motorists in the area.
