A large number of passengers travelled in government buses from Chennai to Thiruvannamalai for the Panguni full moon festival and Tamizh Puthaandu due to the long weekend.

As the devotees travelled to Thiruvannamalai, there was a huge crowd at various bus terminals in Koyambedu, Madhavaram, Adyar etc. It is now brought out that 52000 passengers travelled to Tiruvannamalai from Chennai in the government buses in just 2 days.

It is sensational to note that the Panguni full moon festival also happened at the same time as Tamizh Puthaandu and this led many devotees flocking to the temple town of Thiruvannamalai.

In addition to the regular 244 buses, the TN transport dept operated 504 special buses from major bus terminals like Koyambedu, Adyar and Madhavaram etc. It is learnt that over the weekend, a total of 877 buses transported as many as 52615 passengers.
