IPL 2025: Free Metro Rides for CSK Fans on Match Day - CMRL and CSK Cricket Ltd Announce Special Initiative
In an exciting move to ease travel for cricket fans and reduce traffic congestion during major events, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has partnered with CSK Cricket Limited to sponsor free metro travel for fans attending the IPL 2025 match on 30th April 2025 at Chepauk Cricket Stadium.
This exclusive initiative will allow fans with valid IPL 2025 match tickets to enjoy a complimentary round-trip journey between any Metro station and the Government Estate Metro Station, which is closest to the stadium.
How It Works:
- Both digital and physical match tickets are eligible.
- The QR code on the ticket can be scanned at Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Gates at metro stations.
- Each ticket allows 2 entries and 2 exits – enabling a smooth to-and-fro metro ride.
- This offer is valid only on 30th April 2025 for the IPL match day.
Post-Match Metro Services:
To accommodate the match-going crowd:
- The last train from Government Estate Metro Station will depart at 01:00 AM or 90 minutes after the match ends – whichever comes first.
- Trains will operate towards both Wimco Nagar Depot and Airport Metro Station.
- Entry to Government Estate station will be allowed only 10 minutes before train departures.
- Fans heading to Green Line stations should interchange at Chennai Central Metro.
This first-of-its-kind initiative showcases CMRL’s commitment to making metro travel a preferred mode of transport during large-scale events in Chennai. The authorities also encourage other event organizers to collaborate in promoting public transport, thereby contributing to reduced traffic congestion and a greener city.
