Elevator safety rules that every child need to follow
  • Don’t touch the buttons unnecessarily
  • Stay clear of the sensors. (Show your child where the sensors are).
  • Show them the bell and phone if they are available.
  • Explain how to remain calm until help arrives. But it is ok to be scared! In case the child is having a younger one along, then the kid has to ask the younger one to hold his/her hands.
  • Stay clear of the doors.
  • Don’t climb on anything!
  • Also, don’t hang from anything. Little children always love to dangle from the inside railing! Teach them why it is unsafe!
  • Don’t poke anything anywhere.
  • Keep your fingers, belongings away from the door. Kids put things between the doors and stand there to stop the doors from closing when they are waiting for someone. Teach them why this is wrong!
  • Tell them what info to tell while on the phone needing help.
    • What floor you are on.
    • What was the last number indicated in the lift
    • Who is with you
    • If you are ok or hurt!
  • Teach them their emergency contact numbers and names.
