Maha Deepam event at Thiruvannamalai: 2500 devotees are permitted to climb the mountain on Maha Deepam day!

Thiruvannamalai District Collector Murugesh informed that as per the Court Order, on the day of Maha Deepam being lit at Lord Arunchaleswarar temple at Thiruvannamalai, ONLY 2500 DEVOTEES WILL BE ALLOWED TO CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN TO WATCH THE MAHADEEPAM LIGHTING!

A review meeting was conducted regarding the preparatory activities undertaken for the Thiruvannamalai Maha Deepam Festival presided by the Tamil Nadu State Government Ministers Sekhar and Velu. Babu.

In this meeting, Thiruvannamalai District Collector Murugesh shared:

"The famous grand Thirukkarthigai Deepam Festival at the Lord Arunchaleswarar Temple in Thiruvannamalai is all set to commence on 27th November with the Divine Flag Hoisting Ceremony.

On the 6th of December, Bharani Deepam will be lit at the sanctum Sanctorum of Lord Arunchaleswarar!

At 6.00 PM,  the `Maha Deepam` will be lit on the top of the 2668`mountain!

It is expected that over 40 Lakh devotees will assemble here for this grand occasion!  As such, all the 9 linking roads of the city have been provided withbn13 temporary bus stands.

Also, a facility has been provided to park 12400 cars in 59 car parks!

Drinking water, toilet and police centres will be set up in these places.

Further, 6431 trips are to be undertaken by 2692 special buses.

Buses will be arranged for the devotees to travel from the temporary bus stand to the temple.

Generally, 9 trains visit Thiruvannamalai Station. For this special occasion, 14 additional special trains are to be operated.

Auto drivers have been strictly advised to collect only the fixed fares!

To watch the lighting of the Maha Deepam, as per the Court Order, 2500 devotees will be given priority to watch the lighting of Maha Deepam on top of the mountain!"
