An announcement by Thiruvannamalai District Collector: Holiday today for schools and colleges!

As per tradition and devotion, the Deepam Thirukkarthigai Festival is performed at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar temple it is considered the most sacred and holiest!
Over the last 2 years, due to the raging impact of the coronavirus pandemic, restrictions were imposed, and the Thirukkarthigai Deepam THirvizha was performed within the temple complex premises!
The Procession of the deity and the chariot procession was conducted on the 5th Corridor of the temple!
However, this year, with all restrictions relaxed in the current year, there have been lakhs of devotees visiting and having Darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappan.
Today (Tuesday, 6th December) is the 10th Day of the festival, Maha Deepam will be lit on the top of the mountain.
With this, the citizens will celebrate by lighting lamps in their respective houses!
In this scenario, on this occasion of the sacred Thirukkarthigai Deepam THirvizha, the District Collector of Thiruvannamalai, Murugesh, has ordered a local holiday in Thiruvannamalai District!
