Just when it seemed that the Coronavirus cases have begun to reduce in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu and normalcy has returned back again, the cases have started to increase now at an alarming rate. The public have been alerted and were asked to follow Covid-19 protocols.
On Tuesday, as many as 1489 fresh cases were reported in Chennai and Chengalpet recorded 290 fresh cases and Tiruvallur recorded as many as 147 fresh cases. The District of Coimbatore recorded as many as 120 fresh cases and Vellore district recorded 105 fresh cases. These were the districts that recorded more than 100 fresh cases.
In the last couple of days TN recorded a marginal rise in the number of Coronavirus cases but on Tuesday there was a massive increase in the cases. The state of Tamil Nadu reported as many as 2731 cases yesterday alone. In Tamil Nadu, out of a total of 48 imported cases, as many as 17 were from Bangladesh and 10 from West Bengal. The number of active Coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu is now at 12412. In the last 24 hours, a total of 103798 samples were tested. In single digits, new infections were reported in as many as15 districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. The district of Mayiladuthurai did not have even a single new or fresh case. It is shocking to note that Chennai recorded more than half of new cases that were reported yesterday in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The number of Omicron variant active cases is 13 now in Tamil Nadu yesterday. There are now 121 Omicron cases in Tamil Nadu. Out of 311 international passengers who were tested positive, as many as 220 had drop in their S gene. At 5593, Chennai has got the highest number of active cases and is about 45% of the total of Tamil Nadu.
