Four months back, the fresh Covid-19 cases were more than 500 in the state of Tamil Nadu. After coming down for some time, now once again the number of fresh or daily cases has crossed 500. This has worried many now. The active caseload has gone above 2000 in Tamil Nadu.
It is shocking to mention here that Chennai alone has been responsible for half of the active Coronavirus cases now. On Thursday, 16th June 2022 a total of 52 persons tested Covid-19 positive in Tamil Nadu. It was on 25th of February 2022 (last time) the number of active Coronavirus cases was more than 500.
Out of a total of 38 districts in Tamil Nadu, as many as 26 districts reported fresh Covid-19 positive cases. There were 253 fresh Covid-19 cases in Chennai and 129 fresh cases were reported in Chengalpet.
The district of Coimbatore and Kancheepuram had 32 fresh Covid-19 cases each and 30 fresh cases were reported from Tiruvallur district. As many as 10 cases were from Kanniyakumari district and the remaining 20 districts reported less than 10 fresh cases. Many people came back to TN from the USA, Singapore etc and this has increased the number of Covid-19 cases now.
In Tamil Nadu, the fresh cases stood at 3458997 but no deaths were reported due to this fast spreading infection. A total of 177 persons were discharged after getting treated for the infection.
In Tamil Nadu, the number of active cases increased to 2313 and Chennai alone accounted for 1139 active cases followed by Chengalpet with 472 cases. Coimbatore district has 132 active cases, 113 active cases in Tiruvallur district and 92 active cases in Kancheepuram district. It is learnt that as many as 15292 samples were tested and Chengalpet district accounted for the highest positivity rate at 9.8%. The positivity rate in Chennai was 8.1%.
