The vaccinations have been going on in the state of TN now and many are getting vaccinated for Covid-19 infection.
In the month of June, the daily vaccinations were 1.9lakh doses per day and it went to 5.36lakhs per day in the month of September. In the months of October and November, the daily vaccinations went down and it was 3.9lakh doses per day but in December the daily vaccinations had increased by about 50000 per day. This has not made the health officials happy because they want more people to get vaccinated. The officials are trying their best to administer more vaccinations for the people now due to the threat of the Omicron variant.
It was brought to light by the health secretary Mr. Radhakrishnan that the vaccination performance improved in June month till September month where approximately 5.36 lakhs doses were administered per day. He spoke about how after the number of Covid-19 cases came down and adequate stocks available, the public became negligent as they didn`t have to reserve slots and wait in the queues.
The mega vaccination drives in the last 2 weeks witnessed more people who were due for the second dose of vaccination coming forward after it was made compulsory to be in public places. This was mentioned by some senior health officials belonging to DPH. According to a senior officer, the officials are trying their best to make more people get administered with vaccines due to the threat of the Omicron variant now. In December, on an average, 4.4lakh doses are being administered to the people and this has been encouraging.
The number of daily vaccinations has become more now due to identification and reaching out to those who haven’t got vaccinated. This was mentioned by Mr. Vinay Kumar, immunization officer, DPH. He pointed out about mega vaccination drives that have been successful now.
