In TN, engineering college hostels to become Coronavirus quarantine centres

Coronavirus has taken the world by storm now and many are affected by this virus. In the state of Tamil Nadu also, there are few cases of Coronavirus and people are kept in quarantine to avoid spreading.

Some sources belonging to the government have pointed out that that engineering college hostels in TN plus government training centres would soon be used as quarantine centres.

The health department is also ramping up isolation beds in RGGGH in Chennai for those visiting the hospital with symptoms of flu. As per some doctors, the block that previously housed the pulmonology department would soon be ready with 30 beds for treating those affected with Covid-19.

It was mentioned by Dr Raghunandhan, infectious diseases expert and director of the institute of internal medicine MMC, that since Monday passengers coming to Chennai from Coronavirus affected countries were being taken to a quarantine centre in Poonamallee. He spoke about how on Tuesday morning the quarantine facility had as many as 41 people and hinted about the government coming up with another quarantine facility at Tambaram. He concluded that the government has identified hostels of the engineering colleges and other training institutes as quarantine centres.

Later, joint director of public health Dr Sampath opened about how 18 persons who came were sent home on Tuesday and this was according to the revised protocol. It is worthy to mention here that these 18 persons would be in home quarantine for 28 days and would be monitored by the integrated diseases surveillance network.
