- Metropolitan Transport Corporation or MTC has provided protective masks for the drivers and conductors who operate the MTC buses in Chennai. As a part of Covid-19 prevention measures, as many as 17000 masks were distributed to the MTC bus drivers and conductors on Friday.
- Chennai Metro Rail Limited and health department of TN began an initiative for the purpose of raising Covid-19 awareness among the passengers on 20th March 2020 that, passengers at these stations were given hand sanitizers and pamphlets on preventive steps against coronavirus issue.

- The order was issued by the Chennai railway division to increase the platform ticket rate from Rs 10 per head to Rs 50 per head in 3 stations like TaTambaram, Egmore and Chennai Central.
