Act 144 has been imposed throughout the state of Tamil Nadu commencing at 6.00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday, 24th March) until 31st March.
Further, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy, has ordered that all the district borders closed!
Both the central and the state governments in India have initiated various prevention activities against the coronavirus spread.
So far, 9 persons have been confirmed to be affected by coronavirus infection. In this situation, the State Government of Tamil Nadu has imposed stringent regulations as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus spread.
Order from the Chief Minister, E. Palaniswamy: As there was a recent spurt in the public movement in open spaces, ACT 144 is imposed on the state commencing at 6.00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday, 23rd March) until 31st March. All the district borders will remain closed during this period.
Act 144 will not be applicable for persons undertaking essential duties. All shops except the shops selling essential items such as medicines, vegetables, milk, and grocery items will remain closed. Food shops may be opened to provide food for those staying away from home, such as hostels, lodges, etc.
AMMA canteens will function as usual. Private companies must permit their employees to work from home. The Salary should not be deducted for the days absent during the 144 days.
During these 144 days, public transport, private transport, autos, and taxis will not operate.
