From Tuesday 24th March 2020 evening, Section 144 (due to Coronavirus issue) has been imposed by the TN state government and this would be till 31st of March 2020.
Many people gathered at the popular CMBT in Koyambedu as they wanted to leave Chennai as soon as possible to their native places. It was later brought out by the transport minister, Mr. M.R. Vijayabhaskar that due to excess crowd at the CMBT, MTC would be operated in the long-distance route till Trichy.
The main reason for this was due to less number of buses available to transport the people to their native places. The point is people going out of Chennai must plan their trip because the bus services would be available only till 6 pm on Tuesday.
To ease the crowd, MTC buses would be operated to places like Tindivanam, Villupuram, and Trichy and by this, the people would be able to return to their native places. The transport minister later hinted that 100 new red buses would be operated to places like Villupuram, Tindivanam and Trichy and buses would also be brought from outside Chennai.
Passengers face many issues and to overcome the issues of the passengers` many arrangements have been made. It must be noted that the crowd at CMBT in Koyambedu was unexpected after the TN state government announced imposing Section 144. There were no train services also and the people had just the bus option to travel to their native places. This has resulted in the extreme crowd at Koyambedu yesterday.
