With the coronavirus pandemic spreading fast and wide, the Tamil Nadu State Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy has announced in the Legislative Assembly that each ration cardholder will be given Rs. 1000.
The announcement released by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in this regard:
- As Act 144 is to be imposed, as a general relief Rs. 1000 in addition to the general relief fund of Rs. 1000 and for the construction workers, auto drivers including other vehicle drivers, a special relief package of Rs. 1000 will be given.
- A fund of Rs. 3250 has been allotted for the payment of relief to the public whose lifeline has been severely affected.
- All ration cardholders will be given rise, sugar and pulse (Bengal gram) free. Those who could not buy in March can get the same in the month of April.
- With the objective to reduce crowding at ration shops, the issue of tokens will be adopted to give the ration items.
- Food items will be given to the place where destitute and neglected people live.
- General kitchen-halls will be set up in all districts.
- For those who had worked in a 100-days job opportunity scheme, additional wages for 2 extra days will be given.
- For the workers who are from other states who are not enrolled in any other state unions. 17 kg rice, 1 kg pulse (Bengal Gram), and oil (1 liter) will be given.
- Food will be prepared with utmost hygiene in Amma canteens and given.
