As on Sunday, Adyar zone in Chennai has got the highest number of active Covid-19 cases of 78. It is known that in IIT-M in the Adyar Zone there are many who have been affected with Covid-19 infection. It must be noted that zones like Adyar, Teynampet and Anna Nagar have now got the most number of Covid-19 active cases than other GCC zones. The number of act8ive cases in Chennai stood at 200.

It has been brought to light by officials belonging to GCC that almost all the positive cases on Monday have had recent travel history. A family cluster was also identified yesterday in the Teynampet zone and these persons got Covid-19 infection after attending a family function in Ramanathapuram.  There are 29 active Covid-19 cases in the Teynampet zone. The truth is that many have got the infection while working and they do not have severe symptoms.

As a part of international travel protocol, many belonging to the Anna Nagar zone got tested for Covid-19 themselves and they were found to be positive. Various north Chennai zones like Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Manali, Tiruvottiyur and Madhavaram etc together recorded just 7 of the total 200 active cases in Chennai. It is said that lack of voluntary testing was the reason for such a low number of active cases in these zones.

Many belonging to the Anna Nagar zone travelled to states like Bengaluru and Kerala and this has led to more active cases here.

As per an officer belonging to GCC it was clear that the Covid-19 first starts in the south and central zones of GCC and spreads at fast rates in north Chennai zones due to high population density.

There are 64 active Covid-19 cases in central zones like Ambattur, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam etc. Information is that southern zones like Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur etc have 105 Covid-19 cases.
