IIT Madras Cultural event- SAARANG- What happened yesterday?
An unforgettable experience for the next 5 days!!
On Thursday, 9th January2025, IITM or Indian Institute of Technology Madras made many heads turn when it inaugurated SAARANG 2025 – cultural extravaganza. The theme is A Kaleidoscope of Tamil Nadu – A Cultural Parade. The sensational piece of information is that TN Governor Mr. RN. Ravi and popular music composer Mr. Illayaraja inaugurated the event.
Rich cultural diversity was showcased by the cultural parade that began at the Gajendra circle traversed through the IITM campus till open air theatre.
Features of the procession:
It is worth noting that the procession had colourful tableaux, live music and interactive demonstrations of several art forms. The audience who gathered to witness were totally mesmerised.
According to a release from IITM, the event aimed to foster cultural awareness among IIT M community, promote interdisciplinary collaboration and provide platforms for talented artists from across TN to exhibit their skills etc.
It is really sensational to note that the Classical Night 2025 began in a grand manner with a fabulous folk parade that brought to light India`s vibrant traditions.
There were performances of kaaliattam, therukoothu, karagam, poikkal kuthirai plus katakaal, mayilattam, maadaatam, naiyandi melam, parai, puliattam, thudumattam, silambam, mallarkhamb, theyyam, yakshagna and siva vathiyam etc.
Information is that in this cultural event there would be more than 100 events like competitions, workshops, pro-shows and these would bring the artistic talents of the students and professionals etc to the light.
