The Tiruvallur Book Fair, organized by the district collectorate in association with BAPASI, concludes today (March 17) at the exhibition grounds on CV Naidu Salai. The 10-day event, which began on March 7, attracted around four lakh visitors.
Spread across six acres with 108 stalls, the fair provided amenities like eateries, toilets, and wheelchairs. While the initiative aimed to promote reading habits in rural areas, booksellers reported minimal profits, with daily sales ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 5,000.
Visitors, including first-timers and avid readers, appreciated the collection, though recent releases were unavailable. Teachers also brought students to encourage reading. Despite moderate sales, the event was praised for its accessibility and outreach.
