Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate the much-anticipated flower show at Semmozhi Poonga on Thursday. The event will run for 10 days until January 11 and will be ticketed, offering visitors a vibrant display of nature`s beauty.
Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam, addressing the media, shared that the show will feature over 50 varieties of flowers presented in lakhs of flower pots. These blooms have been sourced from Ooty, Yercaud, Kodaikanal, and Krishnagiri to create mesmerizing floral exhibits.
The minister revealed that the flowers would be arranged in creative shapes such as an elephant, peacock, train, turtle, boat, butterfly, swan, heart, dancing woman, ice cream, and more, making it a visual treat for visitors.
The Chennai Flower Show, initiated in 2022, has grown in popularity, attracting significant footfall each year. The inaugural event at Kalaivanar Arangam drew 44,888 visitors. In 2023, the venue shifted to Semmozhi Poonga, welcoming 23,302 attendees. A special edition of the show, commemorating the centenary of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, recorded an impressive turnout of 1.1 lakh visitors.
Minister Panneerselvam also announced plans to build a bridge connecting the Semmozhi Poonga with the nearby Kalaignar Centenary Park, enhancing accessibility and the overall visitor experience.
With its vibrant floral displays and unique themes, this year’s flower show promises to be a delightful start to the new year for Chennai residents and tourists alike.
