In the last week there were frequent power outages that lasted for 15 minutes to half hour in the city of Chennai is known. This has caught the attention of many now. It is important to mention here that places in Chennai like Vadapalani, Saidapet, Mogappair have been affected by the power outages.
It was pointed out by a resident belonging to Gangai Amman Koil Street that in the last 2 days of time every night at 12 pm there has been power outage for around half hour of time. He added that in the mornings also there have been power outages for about 5 to 15 minutes. Since noon there was power cut for several hours in Pattabiram and the residents there found it very difficult. This was later confirmed by a resident belonging to Pattabiram. According to Mr. Sadagoppan, president of TN progressive consumer centre, the power cut was for several hours of time and it was not announced before.
A resident of Thirumalai Nagar in Avadi expressed his view on the power cut and said his place has been getting frequent power cuts for the last one week of time.
It was pointed out by a senior official belonging to Tangedco or Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation that there was no power shortage and also no power cut. He spoke about how due to overload or due to some fault in the equipment, rectification must be done and in just few minutes of time these power issues get rectified. He added that their department had not received any complaints about the power cuts. The senior official finally shed light on how the city of Chennai required 3500 MW power every day.
The important information is feeder tripping due to insulator failure could take place in isolated cases. These issues get attended immediately or an alternative feeder supply gets arranged by the authorities concerned.
