Recent Northeast Monsoon Highlights in Tamil Nadus East Coast

Over the past three years, Tamil Nadu`s east coast has witnessed significant Northeast Monsoon (NEM) events, delivering extraordinary rainfall to various regions:
- 2024: Rameswaram experienced a remarkable 400 mm rainfall event.
- 2023: Kayalpattinam recorded a staggering 900 mm rainfall, one of the highest in recent years.
- 2022: Sirkazhi saw a notable 400 mm downpour, marking it as a significant NEM highlight for that year.
Today`s Weather Update
Rainfall is expected to continue in districts along the southern stretch of Tamil Nadu`s east coast, including Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Kanyakumari. However, the Delta districts are likely to see a brief respite from widespread rains.
