TANGEDCO to set up 17000 power distribution boxes in Chennai to prevent power cuts

TANGEDCO has decided to install 17000 power distribution boxes in Chennai metro City during the coming summer season to prevent any overloading leading to power cuts.

TANGEDCO has been supplying power via electric cables from the transformer and the distribution junction boxes. There are presently 85000 power distribution boxes installed in the city. As some of them are quite old, they are in a damaged condition. Further, some anti-social elements steal power by connecting from these boxes and sell power.

So, though sufficient capacity of power is available to meet the demand, there are frequent power cuts caused by the damaged distribution boxes. Further, the cables and wires from these boxes are stolen. The protruding cables/wires lead to accidents.

In order to solve this issue, TANGEDCO has decided to set up an additional 17000 power distribution boxes in Chennai Metro City.

These new power distribution boxes will be of good quality and safety. They would not rust as well. Further, no one else apart from TANGEDCO employees can open these boxes. With this safer and quality arrangement, it would be possible to provide continuous power without any interruptions even there is a higher demand.
