Good news for those who use the Kilambakkam bus terminus frequently to southern districts in TN.
It is now said that the newly constructed KCBT or Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus at Kilambakkam in south Chennai would operate from May. It must be noted that thousands of passengers coming to Chennai from southern districts in TN would benefit from this. Point is that many reach Kilambakkam on the long distance buses.
It is known that previously operation of long distance buses (heading towards southern districts in TN) started from Koyambedu. Later on, the bus terminus was shifted to Kilambakkam in south Chennai.
From Kilambakkam, passengers going to Chennai city usually take MTC buses or take an auto to Vandalur or Urapakkam railway station etc and catch an EMU from there. Between Vandalur and Urapakkam, the newly built Kilambakkam railway station (constructed at a cost of Rs 20 cr) is present. That is about 500m away from the bus terminus at Kilambakkam on the GST Road. By August 2024 itself, the railway station at Kilambakkam should have become operational but it got postponed.
