Chennai is currently experiencing widespread issues with smartphone networks, leading to a temporary suspension of online ticket booking for metro travel. The Chennai Metro Rail authorities have assured commuters that they can still access metro services by using the smart cards provided for rail travel.

In response to this situation, the Metro Rail authorities have issued the following news update: Owing to the extensive problems with smartphone networks in Chennai, there are temporary disruptions in the online ticket booking system for metro travel. Passengers holding Metro Rail smart cards can continue their journeys using these cards. Singara Chennai counters are currently not operational. However, plastic token tickets are available at ticket counters within metro rail stations, enabling passengers to proceed with their travels.

Previously, heavy rainfall affected the southern coastal areas, including Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram districts, situated approximately 250 km away from Chennai. This occurred as a result of a low-pressure system forming over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday evening. Rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, was reported in various locations, with the intensity increasing into heavy rainfall. Wind speeds reached up to 85 km/h in certain areas, prompting cautionary advice for fishermen.

The persistent heavy rainfall has led to flooding in multiple parts of Chennai, reminiscent of water sprouting like coconuts. This has significantly disrupted the daily lives of residents, causing waterlogging and power supply disruptions in several areas. Coupled with these challenges, ongoing smartphone network issues have further inconvenienced the general public.

The provided information offers an overview of the current circumstances in Chennai, stemming from the combination of heavy rainfall and smartphone network problems.
