Civic officials and commuters can breathe easy after four days of rain.
India Meteorological Department deputy director general S B Thampi said, "Rain clouds have started to dissipate. And though there will be some rain, it won`t be as intense as the last few days,"
On Monday, by 8.30pm, the city received 31.5mm of rain and the suburbs (Meenambakkam) 18.5mm. With the constant cloud cover, the maximum temperature was 25.6 degrees Celsius.
The situation on the roads was the same as in the past three days - flooding, uprooted trees and harassed commuters. More than 90 trees, including 26 on Monday, were uprooted in the last four days and were cleared from the roads, the corporation claimed. More than 200 roads and lanes and 13 subways were cleared of water by 3pm on Monday.
