Increasing water stagnation in the city – worsening traffic and commutation

Posted on: 21/Oct/2014 11:30:37 AM
Chennai and its suburban areas have been receiving heavy showers for the past three days. The city is washed away and left rejuvenated with continuous rainfall.

While the rain has brought good relief from the hot sun, it has also annoyed people with increasing levels of stagnant water, especially in areas including Vadapalani, Koyamedu, Madipakkam, and other northern parts of Chennai. This has worsened the traffic more due to poor road condition and stagnant water. As subways are also left with water stagnation, people find it irksome to move from one place to the other. Over 2000 municipality employees are involved in clearing the stagnant water.
