South Chennai gets a new magnificent playground

The playground at Conran Smith Road, Gopalapuram is all set to get revamped and renovated, as the corporation is devising plans at a magnificent budget of Rs 2.5 crore. Sports aspirants of South Chennai can find a new place to get themselves triggered to play. While the city has Nehru Indoor Staduim and Kannapar Thidal at central Chennai, this new playground at Conran Smith road will be of help for sports enthusiast from southern part of the city.

- Basketball court
- Volleyball court
- Skating ring
- Cricket pitch
Above are some of the inclusions that will be set up in the ground. Additionally, it will have capacity to hold over 100 spectators at a time. This is expected to benefit sports person from all age groups. Women and other senior citizens can make use of it for jogging or walking. This playground will have two entry or exit pathways. Bike and car parking spaces will also be carved as per needs. According to corporation officials, the renovation works will commence in one month on finalizing the contractor.
