Flower price soar high in Chennai

Due to heavy fog and irregular supply, the prices of the flowers in Chennai have gone high. One KG of Jasmine costs Rs 800. Flowers are being transported to Koyambedu market from other parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Since this is off season, jasmine was costing Rs 200 to Rs 300 in the beginning of last month. At this juncture the rates of the flowers have gone high from yesterday.
Kanakamparam’ (Crossandra ) price touched an all-time high of Rs.550 a kg.Prices of jasmine have almost tripled; oleander (arali) was sold for Rs 150 while ‘mullai’ touched Rs.600 a kg; ‘sendu malli’ rose to Rs.50 and the price of ‘jaathi malli’ touched Rs.600
