Indefinite strike by postal department, services badly affected

Owing to the continued strike by the postal employees on the third day, postal services to villages are completely affected. The department is making use of people to carry out the job for daily wages. The strike is conducted to meet couple of their demands including organizing a separate union under judge and few others. This indefinite strike was started on 10th of this month. The strike continued yesterday too, which stands to be the third day of it.
Most of the post offices in village areas were kept shut down. This strike has got its impact even in very small towns and districts. Letters that are sent from various cities are piled up in the head post offices. In addition, collection of letters from various places is also stopped. Distribution of scholarship amount, collection of funds for savings, etc are some of the other services that are badly affected due to the strike. One section of these employees has not taken part in this strike. This strike however doesn’t have any impacting Chennai city and other major cities.
It is to be noted that no measure is taken to get into discussions with the employees to address their concerns.
