Owing to the incurrence of fault in the Thermal Power Plant in Northern Chennai, there is trouble in generation of 600 MW power. The second unit of phase 2 underwent a fire accident four months ago due to which the power generation was stopped. The turbine part of the plant was damaged in the accident. Following this, after all necessary repair procedures, the generation was resumed yesterday morning. However, owing to excessive vibration from the plant, the generation was again stopped.

Officials say the excessive vibration in turbine result in generation of fire sparks from the plant. On finding this, the power generation was stopped from the first unit due to which generation of 600 Mw power is interrupted. Again, the necessary procedures to generate power are being done, say officials. About 1200 MW power is being generated from the two units of phase 2 on the whole.
