Post office money order service comes to close!

As the services of sending telegrams were closed by the Postal Department, it is now the service of sending Money Orders that is being closed.       

This service will be stopped from the 1st week of April.

With the rapidly advancing technology, especially on communications, the latest facilities are being introduced gradually in all the government departments.

The services of Electronic Money Order & Instant Money Order were introduced by the Indian Postal Department in 2008.

Amounts from Re. 1/- to Rs. 5000/- can be sent through EMO and the transaction will be completed on the same day.

Amounts from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 5000/- can be sent through IMO and instant transaction will be done through the internet.

Assistant Director of India Post  (Finance), Ms. Shikha Madhur Kumar informed that traditional money order service has been stopped. Now, EMO & IMO services will be available to function simpler & faster.

Money Order Services are being stopped after a service of around 135 years!
