Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer, Mr. Sandeep Saxena, informed that the task of registering the complete particulars of voters including Aadhar card details has been progressing at full swing.
In order that the Voter list is absolutely error-free and to prevent duplicate or fake voter ID, Indian Election Commission is implementing a scheme called NERPAP from 3rd March.
The full form of NERPAP: National Electoral Rolls Purification Authentication and Programme.
Accordingly, Voters’ Aadhar card number, Telephone or cell phone numbers-mail addresses, and other details are being registered in the voter ID list.
As per this scheme, polling booth officers will visit every individual house and collect the above details.
The visiting officials will carry forms for making any corrections required in the Voters list to every house. This can be filled up immediately and resubmitted.
Mr. Sandeep Saxena informed that this additional data from 13 Lakh voters in Tamil Nadu has been registered so far.
