The retail prices of vegetables in Chennai have gone very high. From more than 60 wholesale markets the vegetables are sent on daily basis to Koyambedu Vegetable Wholesale Market. During the months of March and April, tomatoes, potatoes and beans were sold for less than Rs. 20 per kilo. After few weeks, the prices of the vegetables have started going high.
Now the prices of all the vegetables have slightly gone high. In the beginning of the month, tomatoes which were sold for Rs. 20 are now being sold for Rs. 30. Similarly the shallots which were sold for Rs. 25 are being sold for Rs. 35. The carrots which were sold for Rs. 25 are being sold for Rs. 35 now.
Now on the whole the prices of all the vegetables have been increased between Rs. 5 to Rs. 10.
