A circular has been sent to all branch managers to allow the students who have Chennai MTC passes to travel in Villupuram buses as well.
Students living in Chennai Metro city and its suburbs use the MTC bus passes to travel to schools. The students find the need to travel in Villupuram buses also in some routes in certain times. However, the conductors in Villupuram route buses refuse to permit the students with MTC passes to travel in their buses causing hardships for the students.
On 27th August, 7 students with school uniforms entered the Villupuram route bus plying between Sriperumbudur & Tambaram. As the students carried MTC passes, the conductor told them that this pass is not valid in Villupuram buses and dropped them after 1.5 km distance. This incident was reported in newspapers. Following this, Villupuram Transport Corporation has initiated action.
A Villupuram Transport Corporation official informed that the students carrying MTC passes can travel in Villupuram buses also. A circular has been sent to all the branch managers to suitably inform all the conductors in Tambaram, Kanchipuram, Chingleput, Ponneri, Thiruvallur and other branches. Serious action will be taken on conductors who fail to follow this.
